Why Megan’s Pet Sitting Was Created
Megan’s Pet Sitting was built around the belief that pets deserve thoughtful, individualized care from someone who respects their routine, comfort level, and personality.
Many pets feel safest at home, especially cats, senior pets, shy animals, and small pets that may struggle with the stress of unfamiliar environments. In-home pet sitting allows pets to remain in the space they know best while continuing their normal daily routine.
Every visit is approached with patience, attention to detail, and a genuine focus on helping pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their owners are away.
Compassionate Care
Every pet I work with is treated like family. I take the time to understand their individual needs and routines so they feel safe, relaxed, and loved in your absence.
Reliable & Responsible
You can count on me to show up on time, follow instructions to the letter, and send daily updates with photos. I understand how much trust it takes to leave your pets in someone else’s hands.
Respect for All Creatures
Whether it’s cats, dogs, turtles, or even backyard chickens—I value and respect every animal. I adapt my care to each pet’s temperament, age, and medical needs.
Tailored to You
No two pets or households are alike. I listen, ask questions, and personalize every visit so your pets get exactly the care they need—and you get peace of mind.
Care philosophy
Routine, Comfort & Trust Matter
Every pet has a different personality, comfort level, and routine. Some pets are social and energetic, while others are shy, sensitive, elderly, or easily stressed by change.
Megan’s Pet Sitting focuses on creating calm, low-stress visits that respect each pet’s individual needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach to care.
Attention is given not only to feeding and basic care, but also to behavior, comfort, routine changes, appetite, litter or habitat habits, and overall wellbeing during each visit.

A lifelong background with animals
Experience That Started Early
Caring for animals has been a consistent part of my life since childhood. Growing up, time was regularly spent around pet sitting, dog walking, veterinary care environments, and animal handling.
During school breaks I would stay in Washington, D.C. with my grandmother while she worked as a professional dog walker and pet sitter. This provided me with early exposure to the responsibility, routines, and trust involved in caring for pets inside clients’ homes.
Additional experience came from spending time in a veterinary office where my grandmother also worked, observing animal care, interacting with dogs and cats throughout the day, and learning through hands-on exposure to veterinary environments.
I have also volunteered with cats at the SPCA during high school, and my first job was at a pet store, further building familiarity with animal care, behavior, routines, and handling from an early age.
Senior pets & medical experience
Comfortable With Senior Pets, Medication & Unexpected Situations
Over the years, I’ve cared for pets with medical needs, senior pets, diabetic pets, and animals requiring close observation and routine-focused care.
My childhood cat developed diabetes later in life, and I was responsible for administering his insulin injections twice a day for several years. That experience taught me the importance of consistency, attentiveness, and staying calm during stressful situations involving pets.
I’m comfortable administering medications including pills, liquids, insulin injections, inhalers, and topical medications, while also monitoring behavior, appetite, energy levels, and changes that may indicate a pet is unwell.
I also have experience remaining calm during unexpected medical situations and helping coordinate veterinary care when needed.
Meet Antioch
The Cat Who Inspired a Deeper Understanding of Pet Care
Antioch has been part of my life since 2016 and helped shape the calm, observant, and detail-oriented approach behind Megan’s Pet Sitting.
Living with a cat over many years provides a deep understanding of how sensitive pets can be to changes in routine, environment, stress, appetite, and comfort. Small behavioral changes often matter, especially for cats and senior pets.
Caring for Antioch through different life stages, routines, and medical needs reinforced the importance of patience, observation, consistency, and creating a safe environment where pets feel comfortable and understood.
That same thoughtful approach carries into every pet sitting visit.
